Information and applications

Atelier

During the festival, every choir can attend one atelier only: due to organizational needs, one group cannot be divided into two or more ateliers. When registering, each group will be asked to indicate two ateliers of its choice. The options are your wishes but the final ateliers’ composition will be decided by the Artistic Director of the festival, maestro Lorenzo Donati, and the festival organization, based on several factors such as voices, choral experience, previous participation in the festival, group size, or other.

When the group arrives, each participant will receive a booklet with his atelier scores and will have to carefully keep it!

Concerts

During the Choir to choir concert, every group will perform two songs from its repertoire (maximum length: 5 minutes total).

On Saturday afternoon, all the participant choirs sing in the Gran Concerto di Primavera (Ateliers’ concert) where they perform the compositions learned in ateliers and common a piece with all the choirs. In the concerts, pre-recorded musical accompaniment is not allowed and we kindly invite you to choose a repertoire from your own country.

Accomodation

Participants will be accommodated in Montecatini Terme, in 3-stars hotels (rooms with 2, 3 or 4 beds, private bathroom). Availability for single rooms (only on request) is limited and entails an additional charge of € 20 per night per person.

Almost every city in Italy has introduced the “tourist tax”: the participation fee does not include this tax, which must be paid directly to the hotel hosting you (you can find the tourist tax fees on www.comune.montecatini-terme.pt.it, the search keywords are Tributi-imposta di soggiorno, should be about 1€ per person and night over 10 years old).

Applications

This is a non-competitive festival. Application is open to school choirs (from primary to high school) and to choirs made up by children aged 6-13 and by young people aged 14-19, coming from all over Europe. There is no size limit for the composition of the choir.

The online application form (available on the website), filled in by the representative of the choir, should be sent to Feniarco, not later than 31st January 2018. Together with the application, the choir has to present the list of participants (divided in: choir members, conductor, accompanying people and eventually bus drivers). The application is only valid with the payment of the 50% of the total fee by bank transfer to:

The balance of the remaining payment must be paid in advance, before your arrival, following the indications of the organizer.

Any change in the number of participants, have to be communicated before the 31th March 2018. Later changes will entail the total payment of the participation fee. In case of cancellation, the deposit will not be refunded.

The participation fees are the following: for primary and junior high schools is 130 € per person, for the high schools is 180 € per person.
The contribution includes: full board accommodation from the lunch on the arrival day to the lunch on Saturday (the tourist tax is excluded, it will have to be transferred directly to the hotel), study activities (atelier), study materials (scores), concerts, insurance, promotional material of the event, logistic and organizational support.

For every 25 participants, one participant is free (the 26th, 52nd, 78th… persons do not pay the fee).

The total and the free fee will be calculated on the overall number of participants.

All the festival venues are reachable by bus, train or plane.

BY PLANE:

The closest airports are: the Galileo Galilei in Pisa and the Amerigo Vespucci in Florence, known also as “Peretola”. Both airports are connected with the main European cities, we suggest to check Pisa first since it manages the majority of the European flight connections.

Both airports are connected with the largest European cities. Pisa handles most of the scheduled European flights, so it may be easier to find flights to Pisa.

Pisa airport has direct access to the Florence-Pisa super highway A11 (Pisa Centro-Aeroporto exit), the A12 Genova - Rosignano motorway (Pisa Centro exit), the A11 Firenze - Pisa Nord motorway (via the Pisa Nord junction) with the A12) and to the SS1 Aurelia national road.

Pisa Airport is directly connected to Pisa Central Station, thanks to railway connections, operating every 30 minutes. From Pisa Centrale, thanks to numerous coincidences, it is possible to reach Montecatini Centro.

Also the Florence airport has direct access to the Florence-Pisa A11 motorway and the A1 "Autostrada del Sole".

The airport is located northwest of Florence; taxis and a shuttle bus connect the airport with the historic city center and the central train station Santa Maria Novella. From here, several trains are available to reach the Montecatini Centro railway station.

Also the airports of Bologna, Milan and Rome are accessible. They are all well connected to the main railway lines that cross Italy and so it is very easy to find the connections to reach Montecatini Centro.

BY BUS/CAR:

From the highway A11 Firenze-Mare, take the exit “Montecatini Terme” after 2 km you will reach the center of Montecatini Terme.

BY TRAIN:

For the ones who will arrive by train the city has two railway stations: Montecatini Terme- Monsummano and Montecatini Centro. We suggest to choose the second (Montecatini Centro), before arriving, please check a map to where is your hotel. We suggest  to see www.trenitalia.it

ATTENTION!  We inform you that Montecatini Terme has two train stops: Montecatini Terme-Monsummano and Montecatini Centro. If you arrive by train to reach the hotel on foot, we advise you to get off at the Montecatini Centro stop (before arriving, however, consult a map to understand where your hotel is located).
